2009 Chick Letter and Order Form
Greaney's Turkey Farm

02/18 /09

Greetings,

Yes we have decided to return to old fashion snail mail to get the word out about our hatch dates, and yes the reason is because Scott is technologically challenged. We (Tracy & kids) still have and use our web site www.Mainepoultry.com

Well another growing season is about to start and it’s time to order chicks. Finally there is some good news. The hatchery informed us that they have only slightly increased the price of broiler chicks. They said that turkey poults may be going up .10 cents. The other good news is that the price of grain has come down due to the drop in oil prices. Oil prices affected grain prices last fall because feed grain was being used to manufacture bio-diesel and ethanol. With oil prices below $3.00/gal not economical to use feed grain to manufacture fuel. The majority of these producers have fallen into bankruptcy now. YAA!

There are a few growers that have expressed interest in developing a “buyers group” to purchase grain at bulk prices. We need to hear back from you now so we can develop a list and make plans. We at Greaney’s are not a grain dealer, but willing to coordinate the bulk purchase of pre-ordered grain in 500 pound minimum orders. Contact us for more details.

The best time to reach us is between 6:00a.m. & 7:00a.m. mornings or even better time is 6:00 pm to 9:00pm; our phone does not work after 9:00pm for some reason. “If the sun is out so are we” We sincerely look forward to hearing from you with any questions you may have and of course with your all-important, order

Don’t forget to check out our web new site at www.Mainepoultry.com

Thanks , Scott, Tracy, Emily, Ben, and Adam (The Greaney's)

P.S. Remember to order your turkey poults according your size needs at the time of slaughter. Our rule of thumb is July poults will dress 22 to 35+ pounds and the August poults dress between 12 to 22 pounds. Weights of course are dependant on proper feeding, floor space and good health practices. Be very cautious of ordering too early…. i.e. April, May or June poults…………..

Please send in your payment ASAP after ordering to prevent hard feelings (on your part).       Remember we are only guaranteed live delivery of the day old birds. Once picked up, the hatchery will not replace birds that die unless there is a 25% death loss of the whole hatch, not just your birds. This is due to the varying husbandry practices and growing environments      Please also remember to pick up your birds during the designated time period and by 7:00pm. No whining--No excuses, PLEASE…….. Please also remember to bring a box with you.   We also run a farm and need to do evening chores in a timely manner as well as take care of our birds and of course our “kidlets”.
